It is the world’s first flex-fuel ethanol car Innova HyCross, which was unveiled in India by Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways.

The electrified flex-fuel operates in EV mode and not only runs on alternative fuel but can also generate electric power. Ethanol is a renewable fuel that is made from the fermentation of sugars from plant materials.

The most common sources of ethanol are maize, sugarcane, and corn. It can also be made from other plants such as wheat, barley, and cassava. Ethanol is a domestically produced fuel that helps reduce India’s dependence on imported oil.

The EMI of the Toyota Innova HyCross starts at 40,478 per month for a tenure of 60 months at 9.8 for a loan amount of Rs 19.14 lakh.

Price: The price of the new Toyota HyCross starts at Rs 18.82 lakh and goes up to Rs 30.26 lakh.

Features and Safety: It has a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It is available with automatic transmissions.

The Toyota Innova HyCross has a mileage of 16.13 to 23.24 kmpl. It is a seven-seater car. Some other features include a panoramic sunroof, power steering,

ventilated front seats, a digital instrument cluster, an anti-lock braking system, ambient lighting, a multi-function steering wheel, etc. Its safety includes up to six airbags, hill hold and descent control, ADAS, etc.

Dimensions and Capacity

Design and colours: This new Toyota feels more like an SUV than an MPV. It has a bold front fascia with all LED headlamps and LED DRLs. Other designs include multi-spoke alloy wheels, front and rear skid plates, body cladding, and LED taillamps.

This Toyota is available in seven colours: Platinum White Pearl, Attitude Black Mica, Blackish Ageha Glass Flake, Sparkling Black Pearl Crystel Shine, Super White, Silver Metallic, and Avant Garde Bronze Metallic.

Engine and gearbox: Toyota Innova HyCross offers two petrol engines, but no diesel engine is on offer. It has a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol mill that churns out 171 bhp and 205 Nm of peak torque, paired with a CVT.

The other engine has a TNGA 2.0-litre, four-cylinder hybrid petrol unit with an electric motor. The combined power output is 183 bhp and comes mated to an e-CVT

The Toyota Innova HyCross is offered in 10 variants, namely G 7STR, G 8STR, GX 7STR, GX 8STR, VX 7STR Hybrid, VX 8STR Hybrid, ZX hybrid, ZX(O) Hybrid, VX(O) 7STR Hybrid, and VX(O) 8STR Hybrid.

The cheapest variant of the Toyota Innova HyCross is the G 7STR, whose price is Rs 18.82 lakh, while the most expensive variant is the ZX (O) Hybrid, whose price is Rs 30.26 lakh.
