It’s standard practice to prepare a job sheet, regardless of the station you give your car to service at. This sheet acts as a means of communication between the mechanic and your service advisor. While giving your car for service, you may have pointed out certain faults that need to be taken care of. Make sure that you check the car and sheet carefully while taking the delivery to ensure if everything has been attended properly or not.

The engine is the heart of the car and for the proper functioning, it needs an engine oil change as well as a filter change. The same goes for the transmission too. Though it generally does not have a filter in it. Depending on whether you are getting the engine oil changed or not, observe the color before and after. New oil would be lighter in color and clean. Make sure to include it in your Car servicing checklist to avoid getting duped.

The engine coolant must be changed after a few thousand kilometers since it loses its properties after some time. And depending on the manufacturer’s recommendation, you may need to replace and refill the brake fluid as well. While there’s no way you can ascertain if this has been done or not unless you see it working. It’s better to stay in the observation nook or take it to a service station where you can see it happening.

Just to be on the safer side it’s advised that you take the tool kit and other personal belongings out of the car before sending it to the service center. However, if it’s not possible, then you can ask your service advisor to mention this on the Job sheet to ensure that it does not get misplaced while it’s being worked upon. Also, upon taking the delivery ensure that the spare wheel and other accessories are intact and right. While you may be in a hurry to leave with your car after it is serviced.
